How true. We should all take time at least once a week to make a list: "Happiness is . . . " For me, it's that first cup of coffee in the morning before anyone else is up, while listening to the robin outside my window; eating a simple salad for dinner out at the table in my garden; or falling asleep at night with a good book.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29727888.post-1932239283080401982010-05-14T17:51:12.310-04:002010-05-14T17:51:12.310-04:00I'd love to take that class! I think society has generally viewed happiness as something that we just figure out in life as opposed to being something we can learn about and work to achieve.

I do hope you get to do the class. I agree with you that this young generation is stressed out more than ever. Equipping them with knowledge, skills, and attitudes to better navigate through life seems like something our educational system should have been doing all along.Bayehttp://www.athomebythebaye.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29727888.post-87673187802506533962010-05-14T11:47:33.012-04:002010-05-14T11:47:33.012-04:00Hi Claudia. Thanks for brightening my day by writing about a wonderful topic.
I recently watched Charlie Rose interview Derek Bok, the former Harvard president, who discussed happiness as it relates to his new book: 'The Politics of Happiness: What Government can Learn from the New Research on Well-Being.'

In a nutshell, Americans today are less 'happy' than past generations, despite greater affluence and luxuries that would boggle the minds of our grandparents.

You're so right. Happiness, you are here. We just need to alter our prisms, some more than others, to see it.

Michael H.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
