Mariners' boathouse
Is no more --
friends, fun and
family,
memories of shorebirds
and seagrass, palm trees,
seashells,
and walks on
the beach.
Gone. gone.
A lone magpie surveys
the scene --
ocean everywhere, sand,
debris,
no homes.
We grieve, we mourn.
But in our hearts
the boathouse
lives --
Fort Myers Beach. Estero Island.
they flourish still
as we remember.
