WILLING MYSELF WELL!!!!

Ah but the day is already dark by 4 pm, doused as we are in heavy grey rain.

And the mood could be deadly dark as well.

Except that  I'm listening to the one who today tells me to change my thinking:

Instead of giving into fear and doubt, instead of worrying about when you will

emerge from the tunnel,

Close your eyes and turn your face toward the sunshine

and the

Divine light

and just be there. And keep thinking, saying, out loud, over and over again:

I will get well, I will get well. I will get well.

or more to the point,

I will myself well. I will myself well. I will myself well.

I am well! I am well! I am well!

Moreover, take the advice of the gurus and sages:

Close your eyes and breathe deeply and let your body go limp,

and ACCEPT WHAT IS! RESIST NOTHING! Feel whatever pain is upon you,

be it in mind or body, and hold it in your cupped hands at your chest and just let it rest there

while you keep breathing. Examine it if you can. Comfort yourself as you do your investigation.

Maybe you will decide to chant, and that can't hurt!

Or maybe you will say the line that my dear friend Sharon told me about,

taken from "Winnie the Pooh:"

"Be brave little Piglet, a rescue is being thought of."'

Ah, how wonderful that is because,

starting today, a rescue is being thought of by

YOU!

*******

It is pitch dark as I go into my study and settle down on the meditation bench. I light a candle and sit with my hands in my lap -- left hand flat over the right, thumbs touching.

For the next 45 minutes I am quiet. I listen to a meditation teacher talk about accepting the present moment exactly as it is, no matter what you face. Accepting the present moment is the key to spiritual awareness. The door to higher consciousness.

As we learn to become more present, more aware, we find that we can watch troubling thoughts and emotions arise and then watch them pass away.

In the background I can hear the rain thrumming steadily on the roof. The sound is so comforting.

I feel more peaceful than I've been all day.
